4th December: Remus / Tonks
1997
"Dora? Is everything all right? "Remus looked at his wife anxiously. Tonks was sitting in the living room in her mother's home on the sofa. She had set up her swollen feet and spread a blanket over her big belly. She clutched a cup of hot chocolate and stared out the window into the darkness.
"Do you think he's all right?" She asked softly. At that moment she looked at him more like a frightened little child and not like the tough Aurorin they always wanted to be.
Remus sighed and sat down at the foot of the sofa. He lifted her feet and placed it in his lap. He began to massage her. "Your dad is smart. He gets along. "
Tonks gulped. There were tears in her eyes, but she refused to let them run free. She would soon be a mother be. She had to be strong. She put a hand on her stomach. She felt the baby kicking. "I just wish he were here. I've never celebrated Christmas without him. "
Remus smiled at her encouragingly, even though he was not as hopeful as he would think to see his wife. After the first war he had had no one. anyone. He hoped that this time would be different. With all his might. But the reality was almost always different. Dreams were never true. At least not the way you wanted it.
"Next year, when the baby is there, then we will all celebrate together. A large family. Without war. "He said convincingly. When he closed his eyes, he saw it exactly right. And if he was lucky this time only, then it would really be so.
Tonks managed a small smile. "It would be nice." She said, wiping tears from a few furtive corner of the eye. She looked at her wedding ring. He had Remus' mother heard. They had to marry secretly been in silence. Hardly anybody had been there, to share their happiness with them. They had to hide their love. They could not be pleased about her pregnancy. Remus had even left out of fear. Nothing was as she had imagined. And now her father was not even there. She had no idea how he was and whether he was alive.
She had thought that the last Christmas would have been crappy. Remus had ignored her and her heart was so broken as never before. She had thought that it would not have been worse may be. Now she was married to her love and got him a baby. She should make capers should. Instead, it all seemed so much worse. She felt powerless and that was a feeling that could not bear Auror.
"What are you doing because of sorrowful faces?" Her mother said happily. She wore a small dusty plastic Christmas tree under the arm, which once saw Tonks years ago in the attic had. It had been the first Christmas tree, which her parents had had. After her marriage she had had so little money that they had no real can afford - not to mention jewelry altogether. Therefore, they had bought the plastic fir tree with the tinsel and flashing lights and placed him in the first years of their marriage.
"It's Christmas! But rejoice, "she continued in good spirits and placed the tree next to the fireplace. "Look what I found in the attic, Dora. I thought, since it is not safe to go out and fetch it, this is very good here. "She waved her wand and the lights began to shine.
Dora sighed. Previously she had loved Christmas. But now she was so little to celebrate as never before felt in their lives. And she knew her mother well enough to know that she felt the same. She put on a happy face only, because they did not want the bad mood, they slew.
Andromeda rightly drew the tree until they are satisfied with him. Then she watched her daughter and son. "Now come on. I really try to do my best. But alone I'll manage it. "
Dora swallowed. "Mum, I do not think now is the right moment -" she began carefully.
"Oh, Fiddlesticks!" Protested vigorously Andromeda. "Now is the right moment. It is Christmas. We should be grateful for everything we have. That we are alive are. That you are about to put new life into the world. Your father will certainly not, we mope, Dora. would say if he were here now, he: Vengeance "You looked at them encouragingly.
Dora was finally beaten. Maybe it turned out, it would be something and they cheered. If she was lucky, on TV Three Wishes for Cinderella would run. In the film, she always came into the Christmas spirit.
When her mother loudly and sang a Christmas song wrong, she clung so strongly in the hope that Remus had given her. Next year. Next year they would all celebrate Christmas together.
